10 Vocabs ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our vocabulary learning app and related services. Core features are free. We may introduce premium features, in-app purchases, or subscriptions in the future.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and full name. If you sign in via Google or Apple, we receive only the information those providers share (typically name and email). Passwords are managed by Firebase Authentication and are never stored by us in plain text.
- Profile photo: If you choose to upload a profile avatar, the image is compressed and stored in Firebase Storage. We access your device's photo library only when you explicitly choose to select or change your avatar.
- Learning data: Words learned, batch progress, exercise results (meaning match scores), review history, flashcard interactions, favourite words, streak data, and spaced repetition schedules.
- User preferences: Daily word count, English level, learning goal, reminder settings, appearance mode, first day of week, and selected word pack.
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for compatibility and support.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App
- Sync your learning progress, settings, and preferences across devices
- Personalize your learning experience (word difficulty, daily batches, spaced repetition scheduling)
- Track streaks, achievements, and statistics
- Deliver local notifications for study reminders (if you enable them)
- Comply with legal obligations
4. Third-Party Services
The App relies on the following third-party services provided by Google and Apple:

5. AI-Generated Content
Some vocabulary content in the App — including word definitions, meanings, example sentences, usage tips, and professional examples — is generated or assisted by artificial intelligence. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of this content. The App is a learning aid and should not be relied upon as an authoritative dictionary or professional reference.
6. Offline Use and Local Storage
The App is designed to work mostly offline. Vocabulary content (word packs) and your learning progress are stored locally on your device using the app's local database and UserDefaults. When you are online, your data is synced to Cloud Firestore for backup and cross-device access. Word pack data may also be cached locally from Firebase Storage for offline availability.
7. Photo Library Access
The App requests access to your photo library only when you choose to upload or change your profile avatar. We access only the specific photo you select. The selected image is compressed (to less than 20KB) before being uploaded to Firebase Storage. We do not access, scan, or store any other photos from your library.
8. Notifications
If you enable daily reminders, the App schedules local notifications on your device to remind you to practice. These notifications are generated entirely on your device — no data is sent to external servers for this feature. You can disable reminders at any time in the App's settings or through your device's notification settings.
9. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share data with:
- Firebase/Google: As described in Section 4, your data is processed through Firebase services for authentication, storage, and sync.
- Apple: Authentication data when using Sign in with Apple.
- Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
10. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including Firebase Security Rules that restrict data access to authenticated users. Communication between the App and Firebase services is encrypted in transit. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to use strong passwords and keep your device secure.
11. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Data portability
- Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data

12. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us so we can delete it promptly.

Your data is processed through Google Firebase servers, which may be located in countries other than your own (including the United States). Google provides appropriate safeguards for international data transfers. We ensure appropriate measures where required by law.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App or on our website, and updating the "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
